Search Engine Friendly Flash Files?
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008In a few of my posts and on our free site on how to make a website I’ve mentioned that Flash isn’t the best thing to use if you are looking to optimize your website for search engines. Well it appears that this is about to change.
Adobe had developed a special flash player for Google and Yahoo to read Flash files. This application will read the SWF file in a way that search engines can understand them.
This is great news for those developers who have wanted to enhance the look, feel and functionality of their website but haven’t done so due to the fact that search engines haven’t been able to distinguish the content of Flash files.
According to Michael Turner, Adobe’s VP of marketing, Google is already rolling out the SWF-indexing technology while Yahoo still has some work to do.
